Some 10 000 police recruiters will be recruited beginning next month, the government has announced.
The Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet said the exercise which will take place on May 11 will co0mmnce at 8am in the morning and end at 5pm in the evening.
According to Boinett the training sessions will take place at the Kenya Police Training College in Kiganjo and Administration Police Training College in Embakasi for a period of nine months. Other recruits will be trained at the General Training School in Embakasi.
Reads the message: “ Pursuant to Chapter VI and Articles 10; 27(8); 232; 246(3); 246(4) of the Constitution of Kenya; Sections 10, 11 and 12 of the National Police Service Commission Act and section 7 (3) of the National Police Service Commission Recruitment and Appointment Regulations 2015, the Inspector General, in exercise of powers delegated to me by the National Police Service Commission, seek to recruit 10,000 suitably qualified applicants to be trained as Police Constables.”
Boinnet said the new recruits will be bonded to serve in the National Police Service (NPS) for a minimum period of ten (10) years in order to deter them from leaving the service after graduating.
The announcement comes after the NPS met on Monday and delegated the IG to conduct the exercise in all the 290 constituency headquarters.
He said that those who will be eligible for recruitment must have scored a mean grade of D plus and D plus in English or Kiswahili and must be between 18 and 28 years and must have a police clearance certificate.
In addition, he said that the said persons must be between the ages of between 18 and 28 years, meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution, have no criminal record or pending criminal charges and be physically and mentally fit.
Female candidates on the other hand must not be pregnant at recruitment and during the entire training period.
The IG also welcomed applicants who have specialties in forensic science , Carpenters and Joiners, Cartographers, Clinical Officers, Nurses, Draughtsman, Electrical Assistants, Electronics Technicians, General Fitters, Foreign Languages Experts , Hospitality , ICT Experts, Laboratory Technicians, Librarians, Masons, Metal Workers, Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Motor Vehicle Panel Beaters, Musicians/Bandsmen, Painters and Sign Writers, Photographers, Plant Mechanics, Plant Operators, Pharmacists, Plumbers, Sign Language Interpreters, Sportsmen/Women, Tailors, Vehicle Electricians, Veterinary, Technicians, Video Editors, Videographers, Welders and Fabricators to also apply for the said position.
He however warned that they will not accept examination results slips adding that any applicant who canvasses directly or indirectly, willfully presents false academic certificates and testimonials or engages in any corrupt activity will be disqualified arrested and prosecuted.
