Former Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya has been redeployed to the Office of the President (OPP) headquarters after announcing his resignation to pursue politics.
The transfer comes after Natembeya announced his resignation yesterday as he steps out to focus on politics.
Natembeya announced his bid to become the next governor of Trans Nzoia County.
“I will from now on focus on politics as l seek the backing of residents of Trans Nzoia to become their governor,” Natembeya announced.
Natembeya has been replaced by Mohamed Ahmed Maalim, Makueni County Commissioner.
Gilbert Kitiyo Benjamin from Mombasa takes over as the Makueni County Commissioner.
In the new changes announced by Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, Nairobi Regional Commissioner James Kianda has been transferred to North Eastern in the same capacity.
Kianda will be replaced by William Kangethe Thuku, who was two weeks ago named the Chief Administrative Secretary for Correctional Services, has been moved from (OPP) Harambee House.
Kianda, replaces former National Intelligence Service (NIS) officer who has been transferred to OPP, Harambee House.
In the same changes, Isaiah Aregai Nakoru, who was the Eastern Regional Commissioner, has been transferred to Western Region as the Commissioner.
Western Regional Commissioner, Esther Wamuyu Maina, has been moved to Central where she will serve in the same capacity.
Wilfred Agage Nyangwanga and Nicodemus M. Ndalana have joined the OOP after being transferred from Central and North Eastern respectively.
Natembeya has been in public service for 25 years since he joined as a district officer.
When he was appointed as a regional commissioner, he became the youngest person to hold that office.
He began his career as an administrator in the President’s Office, Harambee House, in 1996, with a background in administration from the Kenya School of Government.
