Four people have been apprehended in connection to the Lamu massacre that left six people dead through slaughtering, shooting and arson attacks yesterday at dawn.
An attack that was linked to Al Shabaab militants has also been attributed to an existing land conflict between squatters and ranch owners in the region.
According to Police Spokesman Bruno Shioso, investigations have shown the attack to is linked to local land disputes.
“There are four suspects in custody arrested over the attack,” he said.
Bruno added that one person was killed yesterday night by suspected militants at Bobo-Hindi area.
John Moji was torched beyond recognition and the millitants later razed his house down.
According to National Police Service Commission chairman Eliud Kinuthia, Moji died with his hands tied up behind his back.
Six people were killed and homes torched on Sunday night in a grisly attack that left one man beheaded.
The scene was processed where one spent cartridge was recovered.
“The bodies moved to Mpeketoni Sub- County hospital morgue pending identification and autopsy,” stated police report.
Police say that the motive of the attack is yet to be established and progress reports will follow.
The matter is currently being investigated by sleuths attached to Mpeketoni Police Station.
Earlier on, a multi-agency team comprising officers from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and the Anti- Terror Police Unit (ATPU) were dispatched to beef up security in the area.
