Miracle as three miners have been pulled out alive from collapsed Abimbo goldmine in Bondo, Kisumu County as rescue efforts enters the seventh day.
The three who were rescued at 2 am today morning brings the total number of those rescued from the 500ft deep mines to seven leaving one more who is still trapped under the debris.
According to Bondo Deputy County Commissioner Richard Karani, the three were taken to Bondo Sub-county Hospital for medical examination and treatment.
“Rescue mission will still go on to remove the remaining miner who is still trapped in the deep shaft,” Karani said.
The rescue mission undertaken by local miners, Red Cross and both national and county government teams has been ongoing since the mines collapsed on Thursday afternoon.
According to David Orido who is the manager of the mining site the, the walls of the site crumbled after reinforcement on it’s wall collapsed.
The miners were ten at the time of the incident but two had managed to escape leaving behind the eight.
The body the one who died was taken to Bondo County hospital Mortuary.
