Tunisia is seeking increased trade ties with Kenya through an entrepreneurial centre in Nairobi.
The entrepreneurial centre will be hosted by the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI).
The Tunisia Trade house in Kenya will enable Kenyan businesses to easily source for products locally and vice versa.
Speaking Speaking during an engagement meeting with small and medium-sized enterprises representatives at Movenpick Hotel Nairobi, KNCCI first Vice President Dr. Erick Rutto applauded the Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia for maintaining a good relationship with the Chamber and establishing a rapport with both the Kenyan government and private sector.
“Tunisia has proven to be a great country for business for Kenya. In 2019 KNCCI organized a business delegation of 9 people to Tunisia that resulted to import of Tunisia high grade olive oil and export of avocado to Tunisia giving to rise to exchange of 5 million USD in terms of exports and imports between the two countries,” he said.
“We are now doing a pilot study to see what the best practices for us as we go forward to set up this entrepreneurship centre by business people, for business people.”
The Nairobi centre will serve as a platform to scale globally the most successful local and regional entrepreneurial initiatives driven by chambers of commerce and innovative partners.
The Tunisian Business Delegation arrived in Nairobi on Tuesday to explore business ties and the possibilities of cooperation with companies in Kenya.
The business delegation comprising of 25 Tunisian companies dealing with Agro food, FMCG, building and construction materials, metal, medical devices and pharmaceuticals, hygiene products, packaging, spare parts, household i, and consulting services.
The Business Forum is aimed at fostering networking, exchange knowledge, develop trading and collaborative relationships, promote bilateral trade, enhance regional and international trade and explore investment opportunities between Tunisia and Kenya.
The event brought together Kenyan and Tunisia companies with potential agents, importers, distributors/ wholesalers, retailers, joint venture partners, local businesses and Government agencies in the region.
