Shinyalu Member of Parliament Justus Kizito is in police custody over the alleged destruction of property in Ileho area, Kakamega County.
Detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) arrested Kizito, alongside his driver and another suspect yesterday afternoon.
On February 2, 2021 the MP and seven other individuals, are accused of vandalising property belonging to a family known as the Mudekus which is embroiled in a land dispute with Vukutsa Primary School.
According to Kakamega DCI boss James Lelia, a number of officers were injured while apprehending Kizito, who allegedly resisted arrest.
“Several police officers got injured in the confrontation as his supporters attempted to free him from the officers. We may file more charges against him for resisting arrest,” Leila said.
The legislator, who is currently being detained at Kakamega Police Station, ignored court summons prompting a Kakamega court issue a warrant of arrest against him.
