The High Court Judge who sentenced the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), George Kinoti, to four months jail term at the Kamiti Maximum Prison, now claims that his life is in danger.
Judge Anthony Mrima claims he had been threatened by some senior state officers for allegedly making unfavourable rulings against the state.
The Judge, however, did not mention the case that had led to the threats on his life.
“Recently, I handled a matter and issued some orders. The orders were directed towards some senior state officers. I was surprised to be approached by an emissary sent by one of the said state officers,” Justice Mrima stated.
According to the judge, the emissary also warned that he would be dealt with if he did not heed to the warning.
Justice Mrima further stated that it was not the first time he was receiving such threats or facing actual acts of attacks.
Mrima sentenced Kinoti to serve four months imprisonment at Kamiti Maximum Security Prison for contempt of Court.
This is after he failed to obey court orders that required him to return firearms confiscated from 2022 presidential hopeful Jimmy Wanjigi.
The warrant will be executed by the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai.
“In the further event the IG of Police fails to execute the warrant, the same shall remain valid and be executed anytime including when Kinoti leaves the office of the DCI,” ruled Justice Anthony Mrima.
According to Mrima, the State acted irrationally by taking Wanjigi’s guns while he still held a valid license.
