An ordinary adventure at the Chepkulo river’s Kimaya Waterfall turned tragic after a second-year male student from Bomet University College drowned while taking pictures yesterday evening.
The 24-year-old was advancing to a deeper side of the waterfall for a better photo position when he slipped and was swept away by the waterfall’s raging waves.
According to Chepalungu Sub-County police boss Nelson Masai, the tudents may have underestimated the depth of the waterfall and decided to take a chance.
Reports indicate that the student was in the company of other twelve students for a picnic tour who are yet to be identified.
Police are looking for them for a full statement.
A two-hour search of the body conducted by divers from the County was unsuccessful which will continue today.
