Former Gichugu Member of Parliament Njogu Barua has joined President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
This came barely a day after Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru’s defection from Jubilee Party.
Barua, who was received by Ruto at his Karen Residence, ditched The Service Party (TSP) associated with former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri.
“The Bottom-Up Economic Model is deliberately and purposefully designed to calibrate our country’s policies to enhance productivity and competitiveness of small businesses, creating opportunities for millions of enterprising Kenyans at lower cadre to make a living and thrive,” Ruto said.
Ruto said that the former MP and his supporters agree with his bottom-up policy that seeks to enhance productivity and competitiveness of small businesses.
Kiunjuri has suffered a blow since Barua is the second TSP party member who has joined UDA Party.
Last month, TSP Director of political affairs and campaigns, John Methu announced his exit from the outfit and confirmed joining UDA.
While announcing his exit at a presser in Ol Kalou town, Methu, who is eyeing the Nyandarua Senatorial seat in 2022 noted that his decision was based on his constituents who urged h to jump ship.
“This decision has been informed by deep consultations with the people I seek to service as and profound soul searching…The future of a county and by extension of a country is premised on its investment on good leaders,” Methu said.
