Police in Mombasa have intensified war on terror even as it emerged that wanted terror fugitive Fatuma Mosuo who escaped arrest during the gunning down of her accomplice Ismael Shoshi has been killed.
The body of Mosuo’s who has been on the run since last year was recovered at Kedong area near Naivasha where it is suspected to have been damped by unknown people.
Police said yesterday that the suspect had been hiding in Somalia where she another terror fugitive Salim Awadh whose body was also recovered in Naivasha.
Awadh and Mosuo are alleged to have sneaked back into the country in February where they started cohabiting as husband and wife in Lamu where they were arrested by unknown people.
“They were arrested by unknown people in Lamu on April 10 only to be found dead four days later. Police believe they were fighting over supremacy in the Al Shabaab rankings,” said a senior police officer who sought anonymity.
According to intelligence reports, the two had returned into the country to avenge the death killing of Shoshi and Kassim Omollo, Mosuo’s first husband who was killed by the police in connection of terror activities several years ago.
Police says the two were part of terrorists who were planning to carry out attacks during the Easter holiday festivities.
Awadh who was born in Lamu escaped police arrest on March 10, 2013 and has been on their radar ever since.
Another terror suspect who was arrested at Shika Adabu area of Likoni in Mombasa on Friday last week, will be arraigned in court today to answer to charges related to terrorism.
Coast Region Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Pius Macharia said Juma Athuman had been handed over to the Anti-terror police unit where he is still undergoing interrogation.
He said the officers had already gathered enough information that have linked him to various terrorism offenses in the country.
