Police are holding a nanny suspected of killing her employer’s 7-year-old son in Marigat, Baringo County on the nigh of September 24.
The suspect, Lydiah Jelagat Kipng’etich, is said to have sneaked into her employer’s master bedroom armed with a panga and rungu as she slept.
According to Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the 24-year-old househelp had struck to death her employer’s firstborn son before attacking her.
“The woman screams for help attracted neighbours attention who rushed to the scene to rescue her but Jelagat escaped,” stated DCI.
“It was in the process of getting the woman ready for hospital that the neighbours stumbled upon the boy’s cold body hidden under the bed. He had some blood oozing from the mouth with no physical injuries.”
The woman was treated at Nyandarua County and Referral Hospital as the boy’s body was also preserved for autopsy.
Detectives based in Baringo arrested the suspect on Sunday at her friend’s place in Kongasis.
She is currently being held at Marigat Police Station awaiting arraignment at Kabarnet Law Courts today.
