A young man suspected to have murdered his sister and cut up her body parts and stashed some of them into a fridge has been arrested and detained at the Ruiru police division.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday, Ruiru deputy OCPD Ms Grace Thuo said that the 25 year old suspect- Hamis Abdirahmid Jonge Wairimu was arrested in Kilifi County on April 4 after they received a call from an informer.
“On April 4, we received a report from a member of the public who had received a call from Kilifi and reported to the Kahawa Sukari police station, the report was about a man in a hotel who was getting drunk and claiming that the money he was using was from an account of his deceased sister-Irene Kananu, 31, and when we received the report we followed up on the same,” said the deputy OCPD.
Thuo said that the woman who reported the incident led them to the house where the deceased was living in Kahawa Sukari and when they went there they found the house locked.
They were forced to break into the house as they did not have any other option.
“Inside the house, our officers found the keys to the bedroom and in there they found some parts of the deceased’s body in a refrigerator and other were down on the floor,” she explained.
“The suspect was arrested in Kilifi with the deceased’s ATM card and other items including the motor vehicle which was parked at the premises where he was drinking,” she said.
Thuo said that they called their counterparts in Kilifi and gave them the information which led to the arrest of the suspect.
The OCPD said that the police are investigating the amount the suspect had withdrawn from the account.
When asked if the suspect is a student at the Kenyatta University, the OCPD said that they are still in the initial stages of the investigations and they cannot ascertain that at the moment.
