A Nakuru based doctor suspected of killing his two children has died while receiving treatment at the Nakuru Level 5 Hospital.
James Muriithi Gakara, who was an obstetrician at Optimum Current Hospital in Nakuru, is believed to have injected his two children aged 3 and 5 with a killer substance that took their lives on the spot, before attempting suicide.
Gakara has been in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the facility under the watch of police officers since he was found unconscious in his home.
According to reports by Directorate of Criminal Investigation, the little angels, Dylan Gakara ,5, and Karuana Gakara,3, were found by detectives lying lifeless on their bed, with foam oozing from their mouths.
“Their father was also found lying on his bed, though he was still alive,” stated detectives.
Detectives recovered assorted drugs, used syringes and a sharp kitchen knife at the scene of the murder.
However, his family refuted that he killed his two children and attempted suicide.
His sister, Mary Gakara, asked police to have an open mind as they investigate the murders and attempted suicide expressing doubt that Gakara could have taken his childrens’ lives.
