A Nakuru based doctor was arrested on Saturday for allegedly killing his two children by injecting them with an insulin overdose.
According to detectives attached to Directorate of Criminal Investigation, the doctor attempted to commit suicide before he was arrested.
James Muriithi Gakara, who is an obstetrician at Optimum Current Hospital in Nakuru, is believed to have injected his two children aged 3 and 5 with a killer substance that took their lives on the spot.
“In an incident that shocked residents of the affluent Milimani apartments, the little angels were found by detectives lying lifeless on their bed, with foam oozing from their mouths. Their father was also found lying on his bed, though he was still alive,” stated detectives.
Muriithi who attempted to kill himself with the same insulin was rescued and taken to Nakuru level five hospital where he was admitted and is currently in stable condition.
Bodies of the two minors were taken to Nakuru Municipal mortuary awaiting a postmortem as part of the investigation.
Detectives recovered assorted drugs, used syringes and a sharp kitchen knife at the scene of the murder.
The suspect is awaiting questioning soon as he gets better, to answer to murder charges.
