Homicide detectives in Murang’a County are holding a sixty-five years old woman in connection to the gruesome murder of her 99 years old husband through beheading in Ndururumo village within Kigumoini area.
Preliminary police findings show that Margaret Wanjiru Ndung’u, killed her husband, Ndung’u Mugachia using a machete by slitting his throat open after an altercation.
At the time, the deceased who was in his sunset years is said to have been warming himself by the fire side at his son’s house when he was attacked.
The deceased’s daughter-in-law Betty Wanyoike, told Kandara based officers that her mother-in-law had picked a quarrel with her husband, before she dashed to the kitchen and came back wielding a machete.
“She attacked him above the right ear and slit his throat open leaving his body sprawled on the floor.” A senior detective told The Informer.
The two have six children.
“She has been in and out of this marriage. For the 52 years that they have been man and wife under customary law, they have lived together for about 15 years,” deceased’s younger brother Danson Ngigi Mugachia’s said.
Scenes of Crime officers took the body to Gaichanjiru Catholic Mission Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy.
The granny will be arraigned to face murder charges.
