Murang’a governor Mwangi Wa Iria has lauded the efforts by the Jubilee party leadership for cracking the whip on the errant officials.
Wa Iria said the step has given the aspirants confidence that the party is ready to clean up the mess which has been created by people with vested interests.
The governor said a host of aspirants have been expressing fears that the party might not hold free and fair nominations.
“We have been raising concerns that there are some people who have been planning to rig the nominations and out claims came out to be true” he said.
Wa Iria specifically pointed out at his opponent Jamleck Kamau whom he claimed have been lp0p a mission to rig him out in the nominations slated for 21st April.
“Kamau has been bragging around that no matter how hard we try he shall make sure he knock me down by rigging” remarked Wa Iria.
He urged the top party leadership to make sure they seal all the loopholes which can be used to manipulate the exercise.
“We want to gain confidence p the party and few people should not be allowed to mess it up” he added.
Last week seven officials were suspended after they were nabbed processing fake ballot papers and nomination certificates.
Wa Iria’s sentiments were echoed by Murang’a women representative Sabina Chege who said such an eligible party cannot afford to taint its image especially now that elections are approaching.
Chege said the party has a national face it’s standing will also play a role in the August poll.
