A Mombasa court on Friday heard that medical documents supplied by Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko indicating that Mombasa Republican Council (MRC) chairman Omar Mwamnuadzi had been hospitalised at the Coast General Hospital were forged.
State Counsel Yamina Jamii informed the court that the admission number indicated in the documents was used to admit another patient and not Mwamunadzi.
“We have established that the suspect/, who is still at large, has never been admitted at the hospital, the evidence tabled in court were a forgery,” said Jamii.
Sonko lawyer Jared Magolo has applied to have amount of forfeiture on surety he stood on Mwamnuadzi to be reduced from Sh1 million to Sh40,000 arguing that the Senator was still making efforts of tracing the MRC chairman who is alleged to be on the run.
The court is set to issue a ruling on the application on June 12.
Meanwhile, another Mombasa court has dismissed an application seeking to stop a case in which Mombasa tycoon Ali Punjani, has been charged alongside deported sons of slain drug baron Ibrahim Akasha with engaging in a fight in public.
