Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho scored Sh 286 marks out of the possible 600 marks when he sat for his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 1988 at the Tom Mboya primary school.

According to a letter signed by the school headteacher Babu Suleiman and sent to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Joho scored three D-plus, two B-minus and a c-plus in the exam.

The letter indicates that the governor joined the school on January 7, 1980 and was admitted to standard one under admission number Tom 2722/80.

Joho was the school time keeper (bell ringer) and an active football player.

But surprisingly, Joho did not proceed to secondary school until after one year when he was admitted at Serani secondary school in 1990.

EACC had written to the school seeking specific information about Joho’s educational background.

In a letter dated March 28, addressed to the school’s Head Master and signed by Commission’s Deputy CEO Michael Mubea the commission demanded to be provided with a raft of details including certified copies of certificates to ascertain about the governor’s enrollment and completion at the school.

At the same time, Joho has written to the Mombasa security committee requesting for reinstatement of his police security.
