Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has dared the Wiper Democratic Movement to go ahead and eject him from the party if it finds him no longer useful.
This is after the party accused Kibwana of supporting a different candidate during the Kithuki/Kitise by-election.
“Let them (Wiper) do as they wish. I cannot stop them from ejecting me from the party… If I’m no longer useful to the party, I cannot stop them from doing what they want,” said Kibwana.
According to Kibwana, the party has written him numerous letters asking for his appearance before a disciplinary committee, including the latest requiring him to do so by July 30, 2021.
However, Kibwana termed the accusations as flimsy since an agreement between Wiper and his former Muungano party called for supporting of the two parties.
He also dismissed accusations that he doesn’t pay monthly subscriptions claiming it is the party that owes him and not the other way round.
He maintained that Wiper can do as it wishes because he cannot risk his ill health travelling to Nairobi while doctors have confined him to rest after a surgery two months ago.
The Makueni governor spoke when he hosted a delegation of Kamba elders who paid him a courtesy call at his residence.
The Akamba Clans Governing Council endorsed Kibwana for the presidency in the forthcoming 2022 General Elections.
Led by the council’s chairman Boniface Kilonzo and the group’s Secretary-general Davis Maike, the elders praised Kibwana saying he has the interest of the community at heart.
Speaking in Wote town at the residence of Governor, the group said Kibwana should now seek the support of like-minded leaders in his bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“He has the capacity to lead the Kamba nation to prosperity.
“We have given him a go-ahead to make a bigger step at the national level where he is seeking the presidency. He should be there and negotiate with like-minded people whom he is going to work with for purposes of 2022,” Kilonzo told the press.
The council, which is set to represent 22 clans in the Akamba nation, said Kibwana beats the rest of Kamba leaders, who have declared interest for the top seat, in negotiating goodies on behalf of the community.
