Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has told health workers in the county who are not ready to work to resign immediately.
Ojaamong said doctors who are not ready to serve the public should pack and go instead of making people suffer by calling for industrial action every time.
The Governor was speaking at Busia County Referral Hospital after inspecting the situation at the hospital and later hold a closed door meeting with the doctors.
The governor was reacting to reports that doctors in the county had boycotted work since Tuesday last week claiming that the county government had not paid them salary for the three months they were on strike.
“Going on strike will not solve any problem. Let the doctors have a sit down with the concerned people and solve the issues at hand,” said Ojaamong.
Ojaamong also said his government allocated Sh1.8 million to the county’s health department during the supplementary budget adding that the money will be used to address some of the essential cases.
The Western branch KMPDU Regional Secretary General, Sande Charo had instructed all doctors not to report to their respective work stations until they are paid.
