One terror suspect has been gunned down while two others escaped as detectives raided their militia hideout in Kwale’s Bombo area.
According to sleuths based in Matuga, the suspect was gunned down as he attempted to escape.
Acting on intelligence, detectives raided their militia hideout where the three suspects were planning to stage an attack within the area.
“The officers sprang into action, ambushing the three in the said hideout. As they escaped, one was fatally injured in an attempt to subdue them while the other two managed to disappear with gunshot wounds,” said the detectives.
Sleuths confiscated an AK47 rifle and 763 rounds of ammunition from the suspects hideout.
A HP laptop, flash disk, 9 mobile phones, measuring jars,conical flasks, magnesium metal powder, electric bulbs, water bottles and a note listing targeted areas were also confiscated.
The area is still being combed for more suspects, with more officers deployed to beef up security in the area.
Meanwhile, anti-terrorism detectives have launched investigations into the incident.
