Six suspects have been arrested in Kawangware, in connection with the series of robberies targeting pedestrians and motorists along the Southern by-pass.
Detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) managed to arrest Messi Martha Mutioka, Tevin Njuguna, Edward Baraza Shikoba, Lawrence Gitahi Ndirangu, Kenneth Maina Chege and David Lugali Asianja all aged between 21 and 32 years old.
During the operation, sleuths recovered 112 assorted mobile phones all suspected to have been stolen.
“The detectives have so far managed to arrest a total of 15 suspects, in connection with the robberies. Any victims who may have lost their valuables including mobile phones are requested to visit our offices at Langata Police Station, to identify them,” stated DCI.
Last month, detectives arrested three suspects including a teenager aged 15 years old armed with machetes along the southern bypass.
According to DCI, they were arrested as they prepared to stage attacks against motorists.
Other six were nabbed after they accosted a motorist plying the route who stopped his vehicle to let his son answer a call of nature.
