Treasury is holding Sh15B CDF money, new report shows

The government is holding more than Sh15 Billion meant for Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for 188 constituencies.

According to the quarterly report by the National Government CDF board the 188 constituencies have received a total of Sh 7.6b representing 50 percent of the total allocation.

In the statement tabled in the national assembly Kamukunji constituency is the only constituency that has received its full allocation of the Constituency Development Fund for the financial year 2016/2017.

A summary of project proposals from all the constituencies shows that Kamukunji got Sh 81.8m with Kilgoris constituency getting the second highest allocation having received 90 percent of its allocation.

According to the summary Kilgrosi received Sh81.5m as opposed to Sh 81,8m thus leaving a balance of Sh 300 000.

In the summary, Kajiado West of Moses Sakuda and Dagorreti South of Dennis  Waweru constituencies are yet to submit their project proposals thus have not been able to get any allocation.

Reads the statement: “the NG-CDF board received and deliberated on 288 project proposals for the 2016/2017 financial year.”

On the other hand Constituencies that have received emergency fund amounting to Sh 409.4m are 100 of them.

The undisbursed fund for the emergency fund stands at Sh 7.7 bringing the total to Sh 8.1b.

In the 2015/2016 financial year, 113 constituencies received full allocation amounting to Sh 12.8b, while 153 constituencies received Sh 17.6b representing 90 percent.

Ten constituencies on the other hand received Sh 956.8m representing 75 percnt of the total allocation while 14 constituencies received at least 50 percent the all allocation.

And yesterday after resuming sittings, mps demanded that all the money allocated to Constituency Development Fund (CDF) be released to enable them complete all pending programs.

Tiaty mp Asman Kamama also demanded that CDF be released immediately to ensure that all the pending projects have been completed.

Nominated Mp Johnson Sakaja told the government to release the CDF Money to enable members complete their projects.
