The prime suspect in the gruesome murder of Shantel Dzembi has been detained for seven days by a Kajiado Court.
Nativity Mutindi will remain under the custody of Kitengela police station after the prosecution successfully made an application at the Kajiado law courts.
This is after police investigating the murder asked a Kajiado court for more time to complete their investigations before the suspect takes a plea.
Appearing before resident magistrate Edwin Mulochi today, Mutindi was arraigned alongside Patrick Mureithi who is also a suspect in the case.
According to the charge sheet, Mureithi fraudulently registered the sim card that was used to demand for a ransom from the deceased’s mother Christine Ngena after she went missing from her house in Kitengela, Kajiado county, a few weeks ago.
Police nabbed 27-year old Nativity last week in Kitegela, Kajiado County.
She was nabbed at Kitengela/Athi River border in the afternoon, bringing to three suspects arrested so far for the kidnap and subsequent murder of Shantel Nzembi, a Grade Two pupil.
The same day she was arrested, detectives were allowed by the court to continue holding Lavington Otengo, 27, and Francis Mbuthia, 42, for 10 more days to complete investigations.
Four suspects have so far been arraigned in court in connection with the murder.
