The People’s Empowerment Party has withdrawn from the Kiambaa parliamentary by-election race.
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has pulled out of the race in favour of the United Democratic Alliance(UDA) Party candidate.
“Yesterday I held extensive discussions with my boss and friend William Ruto on this matter. To make my two colleagues happy and above all for the unity of the Hustler Nation, PEP will Not be fielding a candidate for the Kiambaa by-election,” Kuria said.
Kuria says winning the by-election as well as the Gaturi Ward by election last year is testimony that PEP’s message of hope and renewal has been endorsed by the voters.
Kuria, who had settled on Raymond Kuria as the PEP candidate for the Kiambaa by-election, offered his apologies Raymond and the people of Kiambaa, and all PEP members who might be disappointed with the decision.
He says the party will now focus on a nationwide tour to meet candidates who will be vying for various seats in next year’s General Elections on its ticket.
There’s also storm in paradise as some members of UDA party are unhappy with Ruto’s decision to affiliate Kuria.
