The much awaited unveiling of the ‘United for Kiambu’ alliance was made public on Sunday following the teaming up of five gubernatorial aspirants who want to unseat the incumbent, William Kabogo.
Aspirants James Nyoro, David Kariuki Ngari alias Gakuyo, transporter John Mugwe and scholar Njoki Gathendu besides Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu held a joint rally at Kimende trading center in Lari sub-county and categorically stated that they had formed the alliance with the sole of offering better and people driven leadership to the county.
Waititu will now be the group’s torch bearer deputized by Nyoro while Gakuyo will be appointed as the chief minister, if they succeed in beating Kabogo and form the next county government.
Accusing Kabogo of being an arrogant and iron fist individual with limited leadership acumen, the five regretted that the county had continued to lag behind in matters development due to the Kabogo’s trend of running the same like a one man show entity.
Gakuyo who has deep pockets and is believed to be the brain behind the formation of the alliance said that he had sought divine intervention after fasting for forty days before coming up with the idea of unity noting that their coming together was not only based on removing the governor but also offer alternative leadership for the sake of development.
