Two state officers one attached to the National Treasury and another at the Ministry of Water, both pension departments were today arrested for demanding a Sh60,000 bribe to process pension payments for former civil servants.
Jenifer Aoko Aloyo, a clerical officer II Pensions section at the National Treasury Bima houe and Esther Moraa Kambuni, an intern attached at Maji House, house pensions department were apprehended earlier in the day for soliciting and receiving receiving a bribe by detectives attached to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (Eacc).
They have been booked at Integrity Police Station.
“They demanded and received the said monies in form of a bribe so as facilitate processing the complainants retirement dues.” An insider privy with the probe said.
Eacc has mounted a sting operation targeting corruption syndicates within the government and private sector service delivery units.
Last weekend, former Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) Chief Executive Officer Pavel Oimenke was arrested by Eacc sleuths for allegedly demanding and receiving. A Sh200,000 bribe.
He has since been interdicted from office.
