Today the world marked the International Anti-corruption Day that has this year been themed “Recover with Integrity to Build Forward Better.
“We at the Ministry of Health are reminded once more about the virtuous nature of healthcare and the sanctity of the professions in it,” Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement released on Wednesday.
Kagwe said he would like to salute all those that heed this in the medical field and to acknowledge that were it not for them, the elderly would perish without the sense of respect and compassion deserved while all our sickly would languish as a result of systems that are compromised by corruption.
“We know only too well what the catastrophic impact of corruption looks like; its devastating health outcomes include inaccessibility to quality, equitable and efficient care, and of course, the trails of death that come with it,” he said
