Kisii county government is set to host the third edition of County Assemblies Sports Association ( CASA) Games in December if the technical Committee approves its Facilities.
The County Assemblies Cultures, Sports, Youths and social Services Committee Chairman, Evans Mokoro said the county has adequate Facilities and is ready to host the games.
Mokoro, who hosted a technical team from Bomet, Migori, Busia, Baringo, Kakamega and Vihiga counties to evaluate the Facilities in the County said the county is credited for hosting Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association ( KICOSCA) games in successfully in 2018 before CASA was formed specifically for county Assemblies.
He said the county hosted Mashujaa Day celebrations at Gusii stadium successfully, noting it has adequate Facilities and urged the technical team to give it a priority.
Mokoro, accompanied by a committee member, Edmond Mokumi said “ The county has enough and well equipped hotels, hospitals and other essential facilities to host the games successfully”
He said nine technical teams have been dispatched to Kisumu, Mombasa, Kericho, Makueni, Nakuru, Nyeri, Machakos and Kiambu and Kisii to assess the state of the Facilities ahead of the games.
Busia Member of the County Assembly, Simon Asuka, who led the 13 member technical team said the stadium is one of the best in the country, saying it is well equipped for the games.
“The stadium is well equipped and meets all required standards. It was well constructed and there is value for money” Asuka told the press at the stadium during the inspection, adding the team had inspected the Facilities for a week.
He said the team, comprising members of the Assemblies was satisfied with the Facilities and will present a report to be compared from reports from other selected counties before a final decision is made.
