Revised timetable for KCPE has been released

Kenya National Examination Council communicated the schedules for the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams moments after the Education ministry announced the revised school calendar.

On Monday 22nd March 2021, the KCPE candidates are to commence their exams which will end on 24th of March 2021.

Mathematics, English (language) and composition are the first subjects on the KCPE timetables, Science, Kiswahili (lugha) and Insha will be on day 2 and Social Studies and Religious studies will be on day 3.

KCPE reharsals will be on 19th March 2021.

This year’s examinations were scheduled to start on October 27 but were postponed to next year after this year’s school calendar due to the Covid-19 pandemic disruption.

KNEC acting CEO Mercy Karogo warned that those caught cheating will have their results cancelled.

Candidates will also not be allowed to leave examination rooms before the end of the period allocated to the paper without permission from the supervisor.

Candidates are also warned against accessing exam materials and knowingly reveals the content whether orally or in writing beforehand, stating, this will attract a jail term of 10 years or a Sh2 million fine.

Candidates will be searched outside the exam room and expected to be seated at their desks 15 minutes before the exams start.She also said no extra time will be allowed for writing an exam.

“Cell phones or other electronic communication devices are prohibited in examination centres. Any candidate in possession of cell phone or any other electronic communication device will [have] her/his results cancelled,” said Dr Karogo

 Supervisors and invigilators were told to ensure candidates understand exam instructions and guidelines and adhere to them.

She said they should ensure that candidates are issued with personalized answer sheets that have their correct names and index numbers.
