Nyamira leaders appeal for urgent police deployment along Nyamira-Bomet border

Leaders from Nyamira county have petitioned the Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet and Interior cabinet secretary Joseph Nkaissery   to  urgently deploy more security officers   a long the boarders of Nyamira and Bomet counties so as to deal with cattle  theft  menace which has  become rampant in the area.

Led by the former Kitutu Massaba Mp Walter Nyambati and the East African Legislative Assembly Member  Mr.Joseph Kiangoi  the two said that the  constant cattle theft between residents of the two counties has  posed a big threat to the prevailing  peace which the residents of the two counties have been enjoying for a long time .

Speaking at Chepilat market which a long the boarder of the two counties, Nyambati said that Nyamira county was losing at least fifty cows every month to the neigbiouring Bomet county a move which he said has caused a lot of animosity among the residents of the two counties living a long the boarder .

He said that despite protests by leaders from Nyamira county over the theft which has ruined the area residents economically  ,little has been done to recover the stolen animals .

Nyambati who is contesting for the seat of the governor on a Jubilee ticket asked Bonet and Nkaissary  to deploy more security so  to save the situation from getting out of hand as the country heads to the  next general elections .

He also called for the transfer of police officers who hail from the two counties citing that majority of them were taking sides when its comes dealing with those involved the cattle theft.
