Matiang’i appoints 22 new councils of public universities

Education Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i has constituted 22 new councils of public universities following the expiry of tenure of the incumbents.

Former Kenya Power Managing Director, Dr. Ben Chumo will head Egerton University, Dr. Jane Nyakang’o for Dedan Kimathi University of Technology while Dr. Timothy Mwangi Kiruhi will head University of Nairobi.

Others appointed are Prof. Shem Adholla (Kenyatta University), Dr. Jeremiah Ntoloi Koshal (Moi), Dr. Morompi Ole-Renkei (Taita Taveta University), Dr. Musangi Jane Mutua (Pwani University) and Dr. Kevit Desai (Technical University of Mombasa).

Dr. Halima Saado Abdillahi will head Technical University of Kenya, Dr. Ephraim Mukisira (Kisii University), Dr. David Ojakaa (University of Eldoret), Dr. Julius Tangus Rotich (Chuka University), Dr. Jeremy Bundi (Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology), Dr. Samuel Ochola (Maasai Mara University) and Dr. Walter Ongeti (Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology).

Dr. Ken Nyaudi will head Laikipia University, Dr. Issa Kipera (Maseno University), Dr. Dulacha Galgalo Baraka (Meru University of Science and Technology), Dr. Florence Kiragu Nyamu (University of Kabianga), Dr. john Kobia Ataya (Karatina University), Dr. Ernest Mwangi Njoroge (Kibabii University) and Dr. Mussolini (Turkana University College).

“Following the expiry of tenure of the councils of 22 State Universities, I am pleased to announce that I have duly constituted new Councils in pursuant to the provisions of the Universities Act… the appointments are contained in a Special Issue of the Kenya Gazette dated March 13,” Matiang’i said in a  statement.
