Tension is high at Kiserian in Baringo South after heavily armed bandits attacked a police vehicle at Mukutani area along the border of Pokot and Ilchamus communities where two people were killed.
The 6am incident left two women who were on board dead and unknown number of livestock driven away.
It was reported that raiders from Ilchamus community raided the Pokots and drove away with unknown number of livestock but the Pokot raiders followed them but the Ilchamus laid an ambush to the Pokot in which the police vehicle crossed and was attacked.
Confirming the incident the police county commander Peter Ndungu said that the police vehicle was got on the cross fire after which it was shot at and unfortunately the two women from Pokot community were killed.
“The criminals sprayed the AP truck with bullets near Mosiro centre killing two ladies on board from Pokot who were going to Kabarnet for orphans cash transfer,” said Ndungu.
The commanded added that police officers have been deployed in the area to beef up security as police on operation in the area have launched the operation to apprehend the culprits who attacked the police vehicle.
“We are not going to rest until we get hold of the criminals who attacked the police vehicle killing the two ladies,” noted Ndungu.
He added that they will not tolerate with any acts of crime and the bandits should get ready to face what the government will do to them.
