Kenya on Tuesday recorded 139 new cases of Covid-19, raising the country’s total to 37,218, Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi has confirmed.
This was from a sample of 1774 tested in the last 24 hours. The cumulative tests are now at 520,124.
Of the new cases, 125 were Kenyans while 14 were foreigners.
112 of the cases are males while 27 are females. Agewise, the youngest is a four-year-old while the oldest is 82.
Another 198 patients have recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 24,147.
A total of 46 of those discharged were from the home-based programme, while 152 were discharged from various health facilities.
Unfortunately, the country has lost nine more patients to the virus, bringing the total number of deaths to 659.
The 139 positive cases are distributed in counties as follows; Nairobi 46, Kisumu 44, Mombasa, Kajiado and Kericho nine each, Kiambu six, Laikipia four, Machakos three, Nakuru two, Kirinyaga, Kisii, Makueni, Meru, Embu and Turkana one case each.
In terms of sub County distribution, the 46 cases in Nairobi, are from Westlands eight, Kibra and Langata four cases each, Dagoretti North, Dagoretti South, Embakasi East, Embakasi South, Embakasi West, Kasarani and Nakadara three cases each.
Ruaraka and Starehe have two cases each, Embakasi Central, Embakasi North, Kamukunji, Mathare and Roysambu one case each.
In Kisumu, the 44 cases are from Kisumu West (40), Kisumu Central three and Muhoroni one case.
In Mombasa, the nine cases are from Jomvu four, Kisauni and Nyali two cases each and Mvita one.
In Kajiado, the nine cases are from Kajiado West four, Kajiado East three and Kajiado North two.
