Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has urged the government to hire all National Police Reservists on a Permanent and Pensionable terms.
Senator Moi who was addressing hundreds of cattle rustling IDP’s in Bartabwa yesterday said the police reservists popularly known as KPR who are well versed with hostile terrains in insecurity prone areas like North Rift region were assisting security personnel to repulse criminals including bandits who take advantage of police officers challenged by bad infrastructure and hostile terrains.
The Baringo Senator differed with his KANU politicians including West Pokot Senator Prof John Lonyangapuo who is strongly opposed to ongoing security operation in Baringo.
He questioned the government for failing to make arrests after 10 people were killed in Baringo yet nearly 400 people were arrested in Neighboring Laikipia County where one person was killed.
Senator Moi who earlier visited widows of Ngorora Chief who was shot death by bandits accused his political opponents for using the insecurity issue to finish him politically. He rubbished rumours that had gone round among his electorates that him together with KANU politicians were protecting the Pokot community who are the aggressors of insecurity in Baringo.
Moi who affirmed that he was strongly supporting the ongoing security operation in Baringo told off those associating him with bandits and cattle rustlers saying their motive was to curtail his 2022 presidential bid in which he is ‘sharpening his daggers’ in preparation to face off with other candidates including deputy president William Ruto in an expected titanic presidential contest.
