Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has embarked on a three days mass voter registration sensitization tour in Ukambani region in a bid to consolidate numbers in a region that overwhelmingly voted for opposition Cord in the last general elections.
The Cord co principal toured parts of Machakos county with various stopovers in Machakos town,Masii, Wamunyu,Kyua before entering his Kitui home County where he addressed his sipporters at Kwa-Vonza, Kalundu and Kabati.
In all this stopovers, Kalonzo was keen in ensuring his followers that he is the best bet to unseat the president Uhuru Kenyatta in a CORD ticket in august 8th general polls.
He said time had come for both Raila Odinga and Moses Wetangula to realize his potential to reunite the nation assume the Kenya’s highest office even without a runoff.
“Let them ( Raila and Wetangula) know that am the ‘King of Jungle’ in todsys politics in the country and I am determined to deliver early victory” said kalonzo while addressing a charged crown in Machakos bus park.
According to Kalonzo is that he is determined to unite Kenyans by fighting tribalism that according to him has divided the 42 tribe’s country into parts.
He lamented that most of the key position in leadership have been shared by some specific regions saying that Ukambani had been neglected.
“we only have health Cs Cleopa Mailu whose docket is facing doctors strike menace that has hit the country for the last 50 days”, he said.
The wiper leader used the opportunity to dispel any fears amongst the aspirants the party would hold free and fair nominations saying that the party had no preferred candidates
Machakos gubernatorial seat has drawn three consenters in the party’s umbrella who are Kathiani Mp Robert Mbui who doubles as Wiper National Organizing secretary, EAL MP Mathuki who is the party’s detipty party leader and Machaks Deputy Governor Banard Kiala.
In the Kalonzo’s brigade was Machakos senator Johstone Muthama,Women representative Susan Musyoka, mps Makali mulu ( Kitui central), Katathat Maweu ( Kangundo) Machakos Deputy Governor Benard Kiala and EALA MP Peter Mathuki among others.
All this leaders called upon the new voters to hurriedly register as voters in order to give the region bargaining power.
The Independent Election and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) targets over half a million new voters in three Ukambani Counties with a projection of 195,135 new votes in Machakos County and 132,000 in Makueni County.
Muthama stated categorically that he would end his political career if the august poll results would be stolen saying that the opposition would tightly manage and watch to ensure that there would no cases of rigging.
“If they steal our votes again this time round, we will not go home but will square it out on spot” said Muthama.
On Tuesday, Kalonzo will at Kitui south and Kibwezi before wrapping up the tour at Wote town and some parts of Machakos on Wednesday.
