New NACADA boss Julius Githiri has vowed to re-ignite war against alcohol and drug abuse in the country.
Githiri said that the war against alcohol and drug abuse is far from being won and it calls for more enhanced efforts from the stakeholders.
Speaking during his tour in Murang’a, the Nacada boss said despite there being efforts put in place to fight the menace, very minimal results are being realized.
“If our efforts to fight alcohol and drug abuse are bearing no fruits, then something must be wrong somewhere,” he remarked. He said he has plans to put his house in order to incorporate all stakeholders in coming up with new strategies and support structures.
“The problem requires multiple approaches for there to be a long lasting solution,” he added. He said the infamous mututho law has been under implemented and in most cases it has been disregarded.
Githiri pointed out counties administration have posed a major setback in the fight against alcohol as they seek to legalize the traditional brews.
“The traditional brews are being abuse I various parts of the country where you will find them being produced in large quantities,” he remarked.
