A seven months pregnant mother and her two kids were seriously injured yesterday evening at Al jijo Village in Laikipia North as armed raiders stormed their house and shot indiscriminately.
The 25 year old Rose Kuraru and a mother of three had her left lower limb shuttered by a bullet which went through her thigh and another one hit her left shoulder.
Lodumu Kuraru who is eight years old sustained a serious wound as one of the bullets went through his chest exiting from the back and it is only by God’s grace that it never touched life threatening organs or his spinal cord.
The younger brother of five years old Salim Kuraru was shot on the right leg as his father tried to fight the raiders. The three were rushed to Nanyuki Cottage Hospital last night but only first aid was administered as there was no one to foot their medical bills as the hospital requires.
This morning leaders convened at the hospital decided to transfer the patient to Mathari Hospital in Nyeri but Deputy President William Ruto who was holding a security meeting at Rumuruti sent a chopper to airlift them to Nairobi for specialized treatment.
According to Mukogondo East MCA Paul Shuel the attackers are suspected to have come from Isiolo as there has been word that they would attack the Il Ngwesi community.
