A second warrant of arrest was on Thursday issued against an American suspected to have colluded with his female lover to kill her husband while on holiday at a Watamu in Kilifi County.
Malindi Chief Magistrate Julie Oseko issued the warrant of arrest for Jacob Schmalzle, to be executed at Interpol after he failed to appear in court to answer to fresh charges of conspiracy to defeat justice.
On December 8 last year, Mombasa High court also issued a warrant against the American fugitive who allegedly escaped to the United States before murder charges were preferred against him.
The court also issued summons against a former police officer Sheik Abdi who was investigating the case to answer to charges of conspiracy to defeat justice and receiving bribe to conceal murder evidence.
Schmalzle is suspected to have colluded with Amina Shiraz to murder Jimmy Jagatram Baburam. Shiraz was married to the late Baburam.
Shiraz and Schmalzle are alleged to have murdered Baburam in a suspected complicit love affair at Medina Palms Resort in Watamu while he deceased was on vacation together with his family.
Shiraz who appeared again in court yesterday where she faced additional charged of conspiracy to defeat justice. The former police investigating officer and the America were charged in absentia.
The court heard that the three accused interfered with the execution of criminal legal process involving the circumstance of Baburam’s death at Amani Villa in Medina Palms hotel, between July 26 and September 28, 2015.
