Tension is high at Natan in Baringo North after a woman and her three-day-old baby were shot dead by armed bandits who are suspected to be coming from a neighboring community.
The deceased Pauline Kiptoon,35, with her three-day-old child were ambushed after bandits struck the village on Monday afternoon.
The 3pm incident which left the two dead and scores injured, also saw the bandits drove way with some unknown number of livestock.
Confirming the incident, Baringo County Administration Police commander Robinson Ndiwa said the suspected armed bandits attacked the area but were confronted by the locals who scared them away.
He added that the attackers vandalized and torched houses which have been left by residents who fled fearing for their lives.
According to Ndiwa the bandits also torched houses that had been constructed for IDPs by the National Youth Service in Kagir.
Hundreds of people are now fleeing their homes after alleged raiders from one community raided the area and drove away with some unknown number of livestock.
