A security guard manning National Housing area in Mombasa was shot dead by thugs in a botched robbery attempt on Tuesday.
Another guard was critically injured during the 4 am attack.
The incidence took place near Likoni assistant deputy county commissioner’s offices.
Likoni OCPD Benjamin Rotich said police are pursuing the attackers.
“We still working to establish the motive of the shooting,” Rotich said.
Rotich said that bullet cartridges collected at the scene will help track the gunmen.
While addressing the press at his offices, Rotich ruled out outlawed Mombasa Republican Council as suspects.
