When former Makueni MP and prominent judge Jackson Nicholas Kyengo Mulwa died in March 2015, it was no secret that he was a wealthy man.
Not many knew, however, that retired Justice Mulwa — also known as Kasanga Joel Mulwa — was worth a whopping Sh5 billion.
The extent of his wealth has now come to the fore, with his first wife, Mary, challenging a Will that was set to be used in distributing the former judge’s assets.
Former Mbooni MP Joseph Konzollo Munyao, former Central Bank of Kenya Governor Andrew Kavulya Mullei and Mr Sammy Mwendwa Mutavi Muvellah moved to court in April 2015, seeking to distribute Mr Mulwa’s estate in line with a Will dated September 24, 2014.
The application was filed at the High Court in Milimani in Nairobi on April 17, 2015.
Justice Mulwa suffered a stroke on January 15, 2015 shortly after taking a walk around Machakos Golf Club. He died two months later at the Nairobi Hospital.
