Migori governor Okoth Obado has sent his condolences to the family of the late Sharon Otieno saying he has nothing to do with the student’s death.

The governor, in the first televised press conference since the death of Sharon, distanced himself from the murder asking Kenyans to allow investigative authorities to do their work.

Obado recorded a statement with the DCI in Kisumu on Tuesday where also denied any link to the Rongo University medical records student’s death.

“I want to say that I’m ready and willing whenever I will be called upon to give further statements. I want to send my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Sharon.”

Sharon was murdered in cold blood and her body dumped near Kodera forest after her abduction while in the company of Nation journalist on September 3. She was stabbed eight times.

“I want to state here clearly that I have absolutely nothing to do with the cruel death of Sharon. I want to urge all the agencies that are mandated with investigations to speed up their work so that the real killers can be brought to book,” the county chief said.

He called upon politicians and the media to avoid speculations over the incident adding that their comments amount to medieval punishments and proclamations.

The governor, accompanied by his wife and children, said the public condemnation has given the family sleepless nights adding they are equally perturbed by the incidents.

“The matter is under investigation is unfair to discuss it…the story is being shifted to him to make it “juicier”, Obado said.
