Lamu police officers confiscated 747 huge rolls of bhang with a street value of Sh597,600 in a swoop on Friday.
The bhang was found in a house at Kashmir area in Lamu town at about 6.30 am.
Suspected drug dealer Lilian Anyango, 44, was arrested and will be arraigned.
Speaking shortly after the operation, Lamu OCPD Gideon Mugambi noted drug trafficking remains a major headache for security officers in the county. But he added that the war will carry on until the town is drugs-free.
Mugambi said police had intensified patrols and crackdowns in all villages and called for cooperation by the public.
Onyango had been on the police radar for long and had escaped many swoops but was “finally cornered”.
“I thank our officers and the public for efforts that led to the discovery of the bhang and the arrest.”
Mugambi further warned boat operators, drivers and traders against colluding with drug traffickers.
He said most of the bhang in Lamu is smuggled in from other counties.
