Deputy President William Ruto has urged voters to reject leaders who were thriving on propaganda to discredit the Government’s development projects.
Mr Ruto said Opposition leaders were propagating lies and rumours about Jubilee’s projects so as to win votes in the August elections.
He said Kenyans should assess the performance of leaders before electing them for various positions come the next election.
Mr Ruto told coastal people not to gamble with their votes by supporting leaders who had no plan to transform the country.
“If the Opposition leaders had the interest of this region at heart, they would have solved your land problems when some of them served as Prime Minister, Vice President and Minister for Lands,” said Mr Ruto.
Speaking at Njukini, Taveta, Wundanyi and Mwatate towns in Taita Taveta County during voter registration drive, the Deputy President said Jubilee was resolving the land problems at the Coast.
Mr Ruto also issued 800 title deeds to squatters in Njukini area of the County.
“You all know that our colleagues in the Opposition are engaging in propaganda to get support from the people of this region despite the fact that they failed to solve your problems when they served in government,” said Mr Ruto.
“You should therefore not gamble with your votes by supporting leaders who are good at propaganda and had no agenda for development,” said Mr Ruto.
Lands Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi, Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya, MPs Mike Sonko (Nairobi), Dan Mwazo (Taita Taveta), Naomi Shaban (Taveta), Gideon Mungaro (Kilifi North), Lands Principal Secretary Mariamu El Maawy and National Land Commission chairman Swazuri Muhammad were present.
Mr Ruto said Opposition was now discrediting Jubilee development projects in the coastal region after realizing that voters were witnessing development.
He said the Government had installed new equipment to provide Intensive Care Unit, Renal, and Dialysis among other services at Voi and Taveta hospitals.
