The National Youth Service (NYS) is entangled in a new whiff of scandal marred by massive procurement irregularities and inflated prices in the purchase of items for recruits at NYS headquarters in Nairobi.
Senior officers dawn from both NYS and from the State Department of Public Service and Youth are said to have colluded with a single supplier to deliver items without tender or requisition.
Interestingly, already awarded tenders and issued to parallel firms which never participated in bid process and initial tender amount more than doubled.
The said businessman, whose presence is synonymous to a paymaster to NYS and a section of ministry officials said to facilitate and mastermind the controversial business deals to multiple of his firms.
