- in Development, News

Anyone interfering with the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) in Naivasha will be charged with economic sabotage whose sentence is life imprisonment, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Wanyama Musiambo has said.

This follows reports of plans to derail the ongoing works which seeks to extend the line from Nairobi to Olkaria over a row on employment opportunities for the local youth.

Issuing the warning, Musiambo said those behind the plot will face with the full force of the law.

He termed the project as one of the key projects by the government noting that anyone trying to derail SGR was an enemy of the state. We have come to learn that some people are trying to sabotage the ongoing SGR project and we have intensified security along the route,” he said.
