Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu will repeal the county’s laws on alcohol and introduce stringent measures to control drug and substance abuse.
In his first address to the new county assembly, the governor pleaded with members to support his effort to curb sale and consumption of illicit brews as well as drug abuse.
He said his government will put measures aimed at eradicating drug abuse in a bid to make the youth more productive.
Accompanied by county assembly speaker Stephen Ndicho, Mr. Waititu said the Kiambu Alcohol Control Act 2013 had loopholes and should be amended to ensure the war on illegal brews is successful.
“I am sending out an appeal to the county assembly to support our efforts in making Kiambu a sober and productive region for the sake of future generations,” Waititu said.
