Kisii University branch members of Kenya University Staff Union ( KUSU) chairman, Geoffrey Ratemo has said lecturers have boycotted work pending the outcome of the Collective Agreement.
Ratemo said staff in other departments were working, adding the lecturers strike had affected learning at the university.
Speaking to the informer on phone today, the official claimed that officers from the Salaries and Remuneration Commision ( SRC), Ministry of Education and Treasury failed to turn up for a meeting scheduled on Friday week, leading to the stalemate.
He said the lecturers are on ago slow strike and appealed to stakeholders to address the mater urgently for learning to resume at the university.
“It is only non teaching and technical staff who are working. Students are not attending classes due to lack of lecturers,” noted Ratemo.
He said the staff at the University is waiting for the outcome of the negotiations of the 2013- 2017 CBA
Education cabinet Secretary, Dr Fred Matiang’iMatiangi had directed Vice chancellors of the Universities to develop a draft on the counter proposal on the CBA by University Academic and Staff Union ( UASU) and form a committee to oversee negotiations of the Agreement.
