Meru University lecturers are protesting against the three percent salary increment offered to them by the government instead of the three hundred percent they have been asking for since the year 2013.
Clad in placards, the lecturers took to the street saying that the three percent is too little for them compared to what MCA’s and MP’s earn bearing in mind they work for more hours whereas the MP’s and MCA’s even get sitting allowances in parliament.
They condemned the government stating that it does not worry about its citizens claiming that instead of looking into the doctor’s and lecturers issue they are busy going around the country mobilising voter registration.
They affirmed the government that the only thing that would make them go back to lecture rooms was 300% salary increment.
